Caregiver Way - Privacy policy

This policy explains in detail how “Caregiver Way” along with its affiliated companies (hereinafter “we”, “us”, “our”, “Caregiver Way”, “”) use any information collected during any session of usage by you (hereinafter “your information”).

Your information is collected via two ways. Firstly, by browsing “Caregiver Way” will cause the software to create a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer’s web browser temporary files. The first two cookies just contain a user identifier (hereinafter “user-id”) and an anonymous session identifier (hereinafter “session-id”), automatically assigned to you by the software. A third cookie will be created once you have browsed topics within “Caregiver Way” and is used to store which topics have been read, thereby improving your user experience.

We may also create cookies external to the software whilst browsing “Caregiver Way”, though these are outside the scope of this document which is intended to only cover the pages created by the software. The second way in which we collect your information is by what you submit to us. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user (hereinafter “anonymous posts”), registering on “Caregiver Way” (hereinafter “your account”) and posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in (hereinafter “your posts”).

Your account will at a bare minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (hereinafter “your user name”), a personal password used for logging into your account (hereinafter “your password”) and a personal, valid email address (hereinafter “your email”). Your information for your account at “Caregiver Way” is protected by data-protection laws applicable in the country that hosts us. Any information beyond your user name, your password, and your email address required by “Caregiver Way” during the registration process is either mandatory or optional, at the discretion of “Caregiver Way”. In all cases, you have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed. Furthermore, within your account, you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated emails from the software.

Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at “Caregiver Way”, so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with “Caregiver Way”, or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the “I forgot my password” feature provided by the software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your email, then the software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.

By accessing “Caregiver Way” (hereinafter “we”, “us”, “our”, “Caregiver Way”, “”), you agree to be legally bound by the following terms. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all of the following terms then please do not access and/or use “Caregiver Way”. We may change these at any time and we’ll do our utmost in informing you, though it would be prudent to review this regularly yourself as your continued usage of “Caregiver Way” after changes mean you agree to be legally bound by these terms as they are updated and/or amended.

Our site is powered by a bulletin board solution released under the “GNU General Public License v2” (hereinafter “GPL”). The software only facilitates internet based discussions; Caregiver Way is not responsible for what we allow and/or disallow as permissible content and/or conduct.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws be it of your country, the country where “Caregiver Way” is hosted or International Law. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us. The IP address of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that “Caregiver Way” have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should we see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered to being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, “Caregiver Way” shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

Collection of Information

We collect personally identifiable information, like names, email addresses, various user-submitted profile information, etc., when voluntarily submitted by our visitors. This information is only used to fulfill your specific request to connect with like-minded individuals and groups on CaregiverWay and to sign you up for our services and mailing list, unless you give us explicit permission to use it in other manners. Users can change their notification settings and mailing list opt-in through their account User Control Panel screen. Users can change their username or display name at any time within their User Control Panel screen. Users also are capable of deactivating their account and removing it from our public databases through the "Account deactivation" functionality within their registered account User Control Panel screen.

All emails and newsletters from this website allow users to opt out of further mailings.

Both private one-on-one and public group chat logs are generally stored for approximately 2 week periods before being purged. This time-frame allows users, both the sender and the recipient, to communicate as reasonably expected on our site. After that period of time we cannot guarantee we can retrieve any chat log. After an account has been deactivated on CaregiverWay any remaining messages that appear from a former account will become anonymized with the username being withdrawn from the database.

Personal messages exchanged through the internal mail client on CaregiverWay are stored for the duration of the account being active. This allows users, both the sender and the recipient, to communicate as reasonably expected on our site. If a user chooses to delete their account on our platform then the messages are anonymized with the username being withdrawn from the database.
A user`s IP address used to access the site is stored along with their account beginning from the time the account is registered. We store this data to help identify and remove spam accounts, bot traffic, and previously banned persons from further accessing the site. This information is purged when the account is cleared of deactivated accounts.

Cookie/Tracking Technology

This website may use cookie and tracking technology depending on the features offered. Cookie and tracking technology are useful for gathering information such as browser type and operating system, tracking the number of visitors to the website, and understanding how visitors use the website. Cookies can also help customize the website for visitors. Personal information cannot be collected via cookies and other tracking technology; however, if you previously provided personally identifiable information, cookies may be tied to such information. Aggregate cookie and tracking information may be shared with third parties, such as the Google Analytics service, for information such as generic keyword analytics, bounce rate, traffic over time, and other site statistics. We use cookies for user interface and IDs of user sessions. So, we use user input cookies (for site search capabilities, as an example), authentication cookies (for keeping you logged into your account while browsing the site, as an example), multimedia content player cookies (to help you identifiy which topics you have viewed here, as an example), user interface customisation cookies (for when you alter your profile data, as an example), third party social plugin content sharing cookies (for when you choose to share a link from CaregiverWay to your social media accounts, as an example).

Distribution of Information

We may share information with governmental agencies or other companies assisting us in fraud prevention or legal investigation. We may do so when: (1) permitted or required by law; or, (2) trying to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud, unauthorized transactions, or illegal activity; or, (3) investigating fraud or other illegal activity which has already taken place or has explicit intentions to take place. Only authorized employees, agents, and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information.
